Profile

Dennis Smith is a long time resident of the Cariboo, having been raised in 100 Mile House. He attended the University of Victoria and in 1984 received a Bachelor degree in Psychology and in 1990 a Bachelor of Laws degree. Dennis articled in Prince George and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1991. In 1998, Dennis joined the Dick Byl Law Corporation.

Dennis brings to the firm many years of experience in Family Law and related areas of practice. When a marriage breaks down, it is often difficult to concentrate on important matters that will have a lasting impact on your future. Dennis has a broad knowledge of the Federal Child Support Guidelines, custody and access issues, and the division of assets and pension plans. Most recently, Dennis has been certified as a family law mediator and is a member of the Prince George Collaborative Family Law Group, which is an exclusive group advocating non-litigious ways of assisting families in transition.

In addition to his practice, Dennis has served on the Executive of the Prince George Family Bar subsection. He has provided part time instructional services for the Community and Education division of the College of New Caledonia in the Child Protection Worker Training Program, and volunteers at the Pro Bono Legal Clinic.

Dennis enjoys all the outdoor activities available to residents of this community and can often been seen cruising on his motorcycle. He has acquired a notable reputation for his participation in local musical productions.
