Byl Law Corporation has represented First Nations and Aboriginal
individuals, organizations, and corporations. We have been involved in
treaty and specific claims negotiations as well as other comprehensive
matters. Our Corporate and Commercial Group has acted on various
commercial transactions involving First Nations including the
negotiation of partnerships or joint ventures for businesses located on
and off reserves.
Our
experience as lead counsel in the case of Carrier Lumber Ltd. vs. The
Queen, demonstrates our ability to manage a complex case involving, not
only issues surrounding the Crown=s trust or fiduciary obligations with
respect to Forestry contracts, but Aboriginal rights, management of
First Nations lands and natural resources, fishing and hunting.
We
believe that, as the claim process in British Columbia matures, and as
First Nations join the economic mainstream in this province, business
opportunities will be created. With our combined experience in
Aboriginal and Forestry Law, we can deliver legal services in this
developing area.
